The Story Behind Soap & Flame

It all began when I mixed my very first batch of soap to help my dry skin. I expected a basic bar but what I got was a revelation: real homemade soap that actually felt good on my skin.

From Hobbyist to Soapmaker

I’ve always been the type to dive into a hobby and then move on. This time was different. I read every book, watched countless videos, and experimented until I understood the science behind oils, butters, lye safety, and recipes. Eventually I wanted more than just following directions. I wanted to craft something uniquely mine.

Balancing Science and Creativity

Through trial and error I learned how each oil and butter such as coconut, olive, shea brings its own cleansing, conditioning, and lather. I refined my formula until it felt just right rich foam, gentle on skin, and made from ingredients that are easy to source. Then I discovered additives like sodium lactate and citric acid to elevate performance even further.

Once the basics were nailed down I let my creativity take over. Playing with color, swirls, textures, and new design techniques became as thrilling as perfecting the soap itself. Those pretty tops are there to brighten your shower, so use the pretty soap I'll make more.

Scent Memories in Every Bar

Choosing and testing fragrance oils is like opening presents it’s the most fun and a challenge at times. There are so many it is hard to chose just a few because I want to smell them all! Some scents speed up trace, this is how thick the soap batter is. If it thickens too fast it may need to be plopped into the mold so any design planned will probably not work, others turn soap brown. I read reviews, research compatibility, and only pick the oils that behave beautifully in my recipes.

There’s nothing better than when someone comes back to the shop because they loved the soap they bought. Knowing they connected with something I designed and made by hand, it means everything.
